The Army Public School at Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi was was established at Maulana Azad Road Officers Hostel in Delhi in May 1953, called Maulana Azad Road Children’s School ( MARCS ) with a strength of 21 children and two teachers. The founder Principal was Mrs Mercy Benjamin and by the year 1959 the classes were extended to standard VIII, subsequently to class XI by July 1961

The boys Hostel in Army Public School started functioning on 15th July 1984. The Hostel has since then been christened ‘Ridgewood Hostel’. The School functions five days a week. It has a Primary Wing (Classes 1 to 5), a Secondary Wing (Classes 6 to 10) and a Senior Secondary Wing (Classes 11 and 12).The timings of all the wings are the same through out the year, from 07.30 hrs to 13.30 hrs. The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and follows the laid down syllabus
