History

The Government of Maharashtra established the technical institute Government College of Engineering, of “Marathwada” region at “Aurangabad” in the year 1960. This college got an “A” graded technical distinction among colleges in the state of Maharashtra by the “Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai”. As the Institute is affiliated to “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University” so they award college degrees. The institute campus in the “Osmanpura” area has buildings housing of 11 Departments, Laboratories, Workshop and Hostels for students.

This Institute already achieved a high status of a major learning college in “Aurangabad”.
The college academic was structured and divided into the semester pattern for part -time or full-time degree courses. Undergraduate courses for full timer divided into 8 semesters for four-year academic period on the other hand part time courses divided into 9 semesters for 4 ½ years. Whereas part time post graduate courses divided into 6 semesters academic period of three years. The college working hour for full time student is 10:45 a.m. to 5:30 P.M. and 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 P.M. for part time student.

The college offers courses in the engineering section:
1. Civil Engineering.
2. Electrical engineering.
3. Mechanical Engineering.
4. Electronics and Telecommunication.
5. Computer Science Engineering.
6. Information Technology.
The main building houses consist of Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and Applied Science and Engineering Mathematics. Later a new building houses ad extended for the departments of Computer Science & Engineering and the Electronics and Telecommunications.

Main Objects of College is to made Cultured Engineers by imparting high technical and other essential education. It also promotes better Industry Institute Interaction by applying knowledge with industrial applications and grows up a center of excellence. In the recent year they has got the prestigious “Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme” (TEQIP) grant. Here also held the prestigious national level IT festival“Sporadica 007”.
“Government of Maharashtra” directed and allocated all seats in the college are ‘FREE’ seats. Out of 50 percent of those seats are reserved by backward classes and the student do not need to pay or donate for “FREE” sites.
Senior and experienced renowned faculty backs “The Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad”. The college is also actively working in the field of Consultancy services, Sponsored research, Professional development and continuing educational or other important activities. The present college principal is “Prof. Dr. W. Z. Gandhare”. Ph.D. Electrical (IIT Bombay).

The college has raining and Placement cell, which provides support services by arranging campus interviews, growing students to face the final interview for placement. The college has Bank facility; at it’s extension counter of the State Bank of Hyderabad (S.B.H). Here is also has College Canteen, which is run by “Mr. Pratap Shetty”. “Gymkhana” also available for “Yoga”.
