History
Gauhati University was established on 26 January, 1948 by an Act of 1947.The University started functioning in a few temporary buildings in Guwahati. K.K.Handiqui was the first Vice-Chancellor. The “Act of the State Legislative Assembly” of “Gujarat” graded the “Center for Environmental Planning and Technology” as a State University and its giving education on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in related disciplines.
